Anti-nuclear-energy activists continue their sit-in protests near Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Tokyo on March 8, 2019. The movement against nuclear energy has been going on since March 11, 2011, when the country was hit by a big earthquake and massive tsunami that crippled a Fukushima nuclear plant. The natural disasters caused a meltdown of nuclear fuel in the plant's reactors and forced the operator, TEPCO, to decommission the facility, probably for at least four decades.
