Japan's key Nikkei average tumbled over 300 points in early trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday (29 September 2013), battered by the Dollar's weakening to the 97 Yen level, and by concerns among market players over the possible shutdown of some U.S. government institutions from this week. At 9:09 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei stood at 14,460.24, down 299.83 points, or about 2%, from Friday. More than 80% of issues listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange were trading lower.
