PanOrient News- PARIS: Thousands of demonstrators marched without a mask throughout France on Saturday against the government’s vaccination policy.

It is the sixth Saturday of such protests since President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement on July 12 establishing vaccination controls for cafes, restaurants, cinemas, museums, trains and other public establishments.

He also said caregivers should be obliged to take vaccinations and declared that PCR tests would no longer be free in the fall.

On Saturday, the number of demonstrators reached 175,500 according to the Ministry of the Interior, while the Yellow Number (an independent counter) said 357,100 participated.

In Paris, four groups took to the streets in different locations, including Place de la Bourse to Boulevard Saint-Michel, passing through the Louvre and the Pantheon.

Chanting slogans against the French president and the government’s vaccination policy, 220 demonstrations took place across France. They shouted slogans such as “Freedom” and “Resistance.”

The demonstrations brought together protesters from very diverse backgrounds – middle-class families unaccustomed to demonstrations, left- and right-wing activists, immigrants– in a peaceful but determined atmosphere.
