Arab League map
Cairo- PanOrient News: The Arab League adopted a unified map of the Arab world with Morocco’s southern province of Sahara included as an integral part of its territories, a major step towards confirming the position of the Arab countries regarding the sovereignty of Morocco over the Sahara, against the claims of so-called Polisario. The stance of the Arab League came despite a protest from Algeria during the Arab Women Organization meeting in Cairo when the map was officially displayed. This development followed the last meeting of Arab Ministers of Housing, held in Amman on December 14. They “stressed the need to respect the geography and sovereignty of the states and to ensure, in all events organized by the bodies, federations and organizations affiliated to the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing, the display of a complete map of the Arab world including Morocco. It should be noted that the Gulf Cooperation Council affirmed at its last summit December 21 it would support Sahara being part of Morocco and also stressed the preservation of the security and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity. The United States recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the southern provinces a year ago, a move that reportedly caused frustration in Algeria and the separatist Polisario.
