Tokyo- (PanOrient News) The Global Business Case Competition (GBCC) will hold its next competition event in October, 2016, organized by Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University APU, Mr. Nazarahari Mohammad Amin of the GBCC Steering Committee, told PanOrient News.

Participants from 12 universities from around the world will attend the competition by students with support from faculty, staff and advisors.

GBCC is the first and only international business case competition in Japan and helps to internationalize the education environment, elevating education standards while engaging and developing a pool of young talent.

The competition will be also attended by corporate officials, policy makers, and academics from around the world.

Most importantly, teams of top students from leading universities from around the world come together and strive to develop innovative solutions to current business and social challenges.

The inaugural Global Business Case Competition (GBCC) was held at Ritsumeikan in June of 2015.

A case study is a business reenactment illustrating current situations in a company or organization.

Such case studies immerse students in actual business situations and offer the experience of solving business problems and making managerial level decisions.

Participating teams work on a case within a certain time limit following specific rules.

Specifically, in a case competition, participants strive to develop solutions to a real-world business case study mostly within a 22-24-hour time frame.

Teams made up of four individuals will apply their knowledge and skills to compete with each other.

Each team is expected to deliver their complete solution of the case study via a presentation.

After the presentation the team answers questions from a panel of professional judges using a standard format.

There are now several case competitions across universities in North America and Europe, moreover, a wide range of international case competitions are being hosted in various countries across North America, Europe, and Asia.

This year, 12 teams are participating for the competition including, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan (Host), University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, University of British Columbia, Canada, University of California Berkeley, United States of America, University of Waikato, New Zealand, Shantou University, China, KEIO University, Japan, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, Singapore Management University, Singapore, Chulalongkorn Business School, Thailand, Thammasat University, Thailand, and Auckland University, New Zealand.

According to organizers with the Olympics coming to Japan in 2020, events such as this help in the lead up to encourage tourism and investment in the area.

International case study competition is growing throughout Asia and with cooperation of business and Government is a good vehicle to expand the international experience of Japanese students.

The most recent event ran from Tuesday 11 September till Monday the 17th.
