Japan Welcomes Iran Nuclear Agreement

Tokyo-(PanOrient News) Japan welcomed today the "final agreement" reached regarding implementation of the Iranian nuclear issue with a pledge of support.
A statement by Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said the Government of Japan welcomes that the final agreement has reached the phase of execution as a result of strenuous efforts made by all the negotiating parties and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Kishida stated that the Government of Japan will actively support the implementation, including activities of the IAEA which has assumed the responsibilities for monitoring and verification of the implemntation, and that Japan will also swiftly implement measures based on the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
On January 17th (January16th CET), in Vienna, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Iran and Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy announced “Implementation Day” of the final agreement (JCPOA: Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) on the Iranian nuclear issue.
The statement also said that for strengthening the international non-proliferation regime and stability of the Middle East, it is essential that the final agreement continues to be observed. Japan will take this opportunity to further strengthen the historically friendly relationship with Iran.
Japan will also encourage Iran to play a further role towards the realization of peace and stability of the Middle East Kishida said.
