A Tokyo woman is watching, through very dark UV glasses, the moon in the middle of the sun. The annular solar eclipse occurred at around 7:20 a.m. and at around 7:32 a.m. in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
It was the first solar eclipse seen over Japan since 1987, when one was observed in Okinawa Prefecture, and the first one in 932 years to be visible over large parts of Japan.
The next annular solar eclipse visible in Japan is expected to be in 2030.
