Men Protest “Women Only” Cars
Sunday, April 29, 2012
A Japanese pro-men activist speaks out near Shibuya train station in Tokyo against the policy of Japan railway companies designating certain train cars as “Women Only” during the rush hour. He said having women only cars is clearly an accusation that all men are molesters which is discrimination.
The policy was originated a decade ago to protect women from “chikan’ (gropers) after a study showed that more than 60% of women who travelled by train, claimed they had experienced some form of groping from men.
The pro-men activist belongs to an organization called Sabetsu (anti-discrimination) Network. He said if there was a problem in this regard, then it can’t be solved by designating trains for women or men exclusively.
