Abeer Safi, a 20 year young girl, was reportedly shot during her participation in a demonstration in Homs city on Oct. 19 and died after being taken to a hospital.
Homs, a provincial capital 160 kilometers north of the capital of Damascus, has been the epicenter of recent uprisings in Syria.”
Abeer was an activist and writer calling for freedom, democracy and equality in the society. She was a second year law student at the University of Homs.
Her name means in Arabic "Pure Fragrance."
