Syrian Ambassador in Belarus, Al-Omrani, passed away after a heart attack

TOKYO - Thursday 15 August 2024 (PanOrient News) The Syrian Ambassador to Belarus, Mohammad Al-Omrani, passed away while on duty in Minsk on Thursday after suffering a sudden and severe heart attack, as announced by the Foreign Ministry in Damascus. His sudden death has left many in shock and disbelief. He was 49 years old.

"The Minister of Foreign Affairs and employees of the Ministry, deeply saddened by the loss, extend their heartfelt condolences to the deceased's family and offer a prayer for their patience and support during this difficult time," the Ministry said.

Born in Damascus in 1975, Al-Omrani's unwavering dedication to his diplomatic career was evident, Syrian diplomats said. He served twice in the Syrian Embassy in Tokyo, from 2002 to 2007 and from 2010 to 2013, before being appointed Damascus's ambassador to the Belarusian capital, Minsk.

Al-Omrani actively promoted cooperation with Belarus in various Syrian sectors, including education and energy. Diplomates said his activities for his country and people, including elementary schools, were highly recognized and appreciated.
