Ambassador Roos Meets Prime Minister Noda

Tokyo- (PanOrient News) U.S. Ambassador John Roos paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda at the his office today.

During the meeting, the Ambassador noted that he looked forward to working closely with the Prime Minister and his cabinet in order to continue to strengthen the U.S.-Japan relationship across a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, U.S. Embassy said.

The Ambassador also reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to supporting Japan as it rebuilds from the disasters of March 11.

Noda reportedly said to Roos that he told U.S. President Barack Obama when they met in New York last month that his priority is to rebuild the disaster-hit areas and contain the nuclear crisis, which was triggered by the March catastrophe.

Prime Minister Noda also voiced hope that Japan and the United States will not only work together on issues of bilateral interest but those of global concern as well.
